Accounting

Meet regulatory requirements, enhance sustainability and achieve ESG Goals with TCS’ Carbon Accounting services.

What is Carbon Accounting?

Carbon Accounting is the process of measuring, tracking and reporting the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by an organisation’s activities. It provides companies with a clear picture of their carbon footprint, and is typically broken down into three categories:

Scope 1 - Direct Emissions
Emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company

Scope 2 - Indirect Emissions
Emissions from purchased electricity, heating, cooling.

Scope 3 - Indirect - Value Chain
All other indirect emissions such as purchased goods, transportation and waste.

By understanding these emissions, organisations can identify reduction opportunities, set targets and track progress over time.

Why is it important?

Climate related regulations are increasing, particularly in the UK. Many of these regulations target large organisations but their impact is already cascading to SMEs through supply chains, procurement requirements and reporting expectations.

Alongside this, investors, clients and customers are increasingly expecting transparency around environmental impact. Organisations that measure and manage their carbon footprint are better positioned to win contracts, improve tender scoring and strengthen brand reputation.
